M e e t t h e P e o p l e a t A u s c o n n e c t		Peter Brien is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Certified Investment & Financial Planner, Microsoft NT Network Engineer and Foxpro Developer. Peter worked several years with Qantas and is now Managing Director of his own insurance wholesale operation which is gaining popularity with many of Perth's leading independent investment advisers. Peter has his own Network Installation & Maintenance Company. He is a self- educated programmer and has participated in major programming exercises within the financial services industry. Peter has recently joined the Ausconnect team to look after the development of our marketing. He is using Ausconnect now to network the advisers using his wholesale insurance service. Peter is advising on our Web Page marketing operations. Darren Longbottom is our Web Wizard, system operator and Unix Guru. He has studied Computer Science at the University of Western Australia. He comes from a farming background and is our system, server and development programmer. Darren has been involved in the computing systems industry for 13 years, and with computer networking for 10 years. Darren has a broad technical knowledge of the applications of information technology to farming business activities; and direct experience and knowledge of the particular problems facing rural communities and the solutions they require. Darren has implemented remote electronic communications systems at Grass Patch and Esperance and at ten trial sites throughout the state for Ausconnect. Each site, whilst problematically unique, illustrates the extreme difficulty faced by any group involved in bringing the information revolution out of the metropolitan area. Telecommunication links are poor, electricity is neither clean nor reliable, distances are vast and financial resources are relatively meagre. Any solution needs to be simple, robust, self-supporting and cost-effective.
